What do volunteers do?

Our volunteers get involved in all kinds of ways. You might welcome visitors and help them settle in, support with resident activities like games and crafts, or simply chat with individuals who don’t receive many visitors.

We also encourage our volunteers to help with gardening and event planning if this is an area you’d like to get involved with. We tailor each volunteering experience to your strengths and interests.

You’ll never be thrown in the deep end; we’ll take the time to welcome you and ensure you feel supported throughout your time volunteering with us. If you have a passion, we’ll help you share it.

Grow your confidence & build skills

Volunteering helps develop confidence, teamwork, communication and emotional intelligence. You’ll learn how to connect with different generations, build patience and respond with empathy, all skills that translate far beyond care work.

Care home volunteering at Grosvenor House often improves people’s self-confidence, mental well-being, and career direction. If you’re interested in the care sector, community work, psychology, or nursing, this experience is a meaningful first step.

More than just volunteering

Many of our volunteers say that how included they feel keeps them coming back. Our team goes out of its way to make everyone feel welcome and just as valued as everyone here.

We celebrate your contribution and are proud to support your journey wherever it may lead. There’s coffee in the cafe, fresh bakes in the kitchen, and a team that knows your name.

Flexible around your life

We understand that everyone has different availability. Whether you have a free morning each week, time at the weekend, or even during school holidays, we can find a pattern that suits you.

Some volunteers join us for the short term while others become long-lasting community members. There is no pressure, just people who care and time that matters.

Every hour you share helps us create a home filled with laughter, dignity and human warmth. Volunteers bring life into everyday life, which we never take for granted.

Who can volunteer?

Everyone is welcome to volunteer here; you don’t need experience, just kindness. Whether you’re a student looking to gain experience, a retiree with time to give, or someone simply seeking to make stronger connections in our community, there is a place for you here.

You don’t need specific skills, just a willingness to listen, chat or lend a hand. We provide all of the guidance and support you need to feel confident. If you care, then you’re already a perfect fit.
