Omi Projector & The Community
We are always looking for opportunities to engage with our local community alongside the support we have for our residents and home care clients. This is why, over the summer, we loved working with Gainsborough Adventure Playground to share our incredible Omi Projector with the children.
As a care home, we are dedicated to supporting our residents and enriching the wider community. The Omi projector proved the perfect tool for this mission, and the smiles on the children’s faces said it all.
The Omi Projector Experience
One of the best things about the Omi projector is its ability to transform any space into a fun, engaging, and stimulating environment. Designed with versatility in mind, it uses motion-sensing technology to create interactive displays on any surface, such as floors or tables.
This includes games, quizzes and many other creative activities; the projector is an all-in-one entertainment and educational tool accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
During our summer visits to Gainsborough Adventure Playground, the Omi projector quickly became the star of the show. The children were captivated by the projector’s ability to turn an ordinary room into an immersive playground filled with virtual sports, quizzes, and creative challenges.
They played air hockey and football—all without needing physical equipment—allowing them to enjoy sports in a new and exciting way. The projector also offered music quizzes and trivia, including a fun quiz about Gainsborough.
The children’s reactions were priceless. Their laughter, excitement, and focus filled the room as they competed in games, solved puzzles, and explored new ways to interact with each other and their environment.
The Omi projector fostered collaboration, creativity, and healthy competition in a safe, inclusive space.
Why We Love Reaching Out to the Community
At Grosvenor House, community involvement is a core value. Building strong connections with our local community is essential for the well-being of everyone, not just the people we supportour residents.
By sharing the Omi projector, we could contribute to Gainsborough Adventure playground’s HAF programme during the summer holidays, bringing joy and enriching experiences to children without access to such technology. Our collaboration with Gainsborough Adventure Playground is one of many ways we are working to bridge generational gaps and create a positive impact beyond the walls of Grosvenor House.
Reaching out to the community is not only about giving back; it’s about creating shared experiences that bring people together. We recognise that many families face challenges, especially during school holidays, when keeping children entertained and engaged can be difficult.
The HAF programme provided a fantastic opportunity for us to help address this need, ensuring that children had access to nutritious meals, fun activities, and enriching experiences during their break from school.
The Gainsborough Adventure Playground team organised a wide range of activities for the children, from sports days and water play to creative arts and crafts. The Omi projector seamlessly complemented these activities by offering a blend of physical activity, mental challenges, and creative exploration.
One particularly memorable day saw the children enjoying Olympic-themed word searches and colouring in the morning, followed by a water play session that ended with lots of giggles and soaked clothes.
Another day concluded with a mini sports day, during which the children competed in classic games like the egg-and-spoon race, skipping, and tug-of-war. We were so happy to see the children enjoying themselves while staying active and learning new things.
The Benefits of the Omi Projector
The Omi projector isn’t just about fun and games—it also offers numerous cognitive and physical benefits. Its motion-sensing technology promotes physical activity for children, encouraging them to move, stretch, and exercise as they play.
This is particularly important for those who may not have access to outdoor play spaces or organised sports. The interactive nature of the projector also stimulates cognitive development by challenging children to think critically, solve problems, and work as a team.
Beyond the physical and cognitive benefits, the Omi projector fosters social interaction. Many of the games and activities require collaboration, communication, and teamwork, helping children develop essential social skills.
The projector is also an inclusive tool, making it accessible to children of all abilities. Whether they’re participating in a lively game of football or enjoying a quieter creative activity like colouring, every child can find something they love with the Omi projector.
Our outreach efforts at Grosvenor House must promote inclusivity and well-being. The Omi projector is an excellent example of how technology can break down barriers and create opportunities for everyone to participate, regardless of their background or abilities.
Looking Ahead
Our summer collaboration with Gainsborough Adventure Playground was a resounding success, and we are eager to continue exploring new ways to engage with our community.
We are already looking forward to future opportunities where we can bring the Omi projector and other innovative activities to even more children and community members.
At Grosvenor House, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around us, and our work with the community is just as important as the care we provide within our home.
As we reflect on the summer, we feel incredibly grateful for the chance to connect with the children of Gainsborough Adventure Playground. Their energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm reminded us why community outreach is vital to our mission. We look forward to continuing to build these connections and to sharing more exciting experiences in the future.
Thank you to everyone at Gainsborough Adventure Playground for warmly welcoming us and being such incredible partners in this initiative. Together, we made this summer one to remember, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
